Chippewa Campground is on the northeast shore of the Chequamegon Waters Flowage (2,714 acres), and is a popular destination for anglers. Paddlers and casual boaters will especially enjoy the wild lakeshore scenery along the east and south bays. This is an excellent family campground, the amenities are modern and most campsites are spacious and offer comfortable levels of seclusion.
The small recreation area is on the south shore of Emily Lake (31 acres), whose scenic waters are surrounded by a wilderness of conifers, hardwoods, and spruce-tamarack bog. Inlet and an outlet creeks are on opposite ends of the north shore.
Eastwood Campground sits on a low ridge in a maturing maple forest at the northeast end of the Mondeaux Flowage. This is the closest of the four National Forest campgrounds on the Flowage to the Mondeaux Recreation Area and the historic lodge. A trail to the developed recreation area begins near the north end of the campground loop.
This small campground sits on a point near the middle of the Mondeaux Flowage. The camping area is a wide, shady flat next to the lakeshore and no matter where you pitch a tent, you will have views of the water. The camping area is open with very little understory. Tall red pines, birch, and several huge white pines provide plenty of shade.
Spearhead Point campground sits on a small peninsula near the north end of the Mondeaux Flowage, and is one of the most picturesque, lakeside campgrounds in the Chequamegon-Nicolet National Forest. Most of the lakefront sites are 15 to 25 feet above the level of the flowage among pines, balsam fir, and hemlock. Several south-facing sites are in fantastic settings with open views of the water. Many sites have their own landings with a small pier for fishing or docking personal watercraft.
West Point is a small, scenic lakeside campground in a narrow part of the flowage where the opposite shore is only 50 yards across the water. Tall hemlocks line the shoreline and provide plenty of shade for the waterfront campsites; hardwoods shade the rest of the campground.
The campground is on the west shore of Sailor Lake (168 acres) in a secluded area of the Chequamegon-Nicolet. The campground is especially popular for ATV riders and adventure motorcyclists on the Flambeau Motorized Trail System. Anglers will find abundant Panfish, Largemouth Bass and Northern Pike in the shallow waters of the lake.
This small, quiet recreation area is in a scenic setting on the shore of Twin Lakes (19 acres). Pine, spruce, cedar, and birch provide plenty of shade for the campground. A no-wake restriction on motorized craft creates a relaxing atmosphere for paddling and fishing. An aerator in the center of the lake helps maintain a healthy year-round fish population that includes Brook Trout, Rainbow Trout, Largemouth Bass, and Panfish.
Five walk-in canoe campsites are on the shore of beautiful Wabasso Lake, whose crystal clear waters and deep sandy bottom are surrounded by spruce, tamarack, hemlocks, and pines. The lake is electric motor-only and offers a scenic and relaxing paddling experience.
