This is one of the most popular camping destinations in the Chequamegon-Nicolet National Forest, on the southwest shore of Franklin Lake (881 acres). A big reason is that more than half of the 77 campsites are lakefront. The lake's beautiful scenery and clear waters are excellent for swimming, canoeing, kayaking, boating, and fishing; or just relaxing at your campsite.
This shady campground is in a beautiful, wooded setting on the northeast shore of a 1000-acre lake. Hemlocks surround the waterfront campsites, while maple and oak provide a high, shady canopy for the rest of the campground. Every site has at least partial shade.
The recreation area is on a pine-covered flat on the west shore of Lac Vieux Desert (4,017 acres), a few miles south of the Wisconsin-Michigan border. The local region has a rich cultural history beginning with the Ojibwe, who have been residing in the area for hundreds of years and once used the islands for cultivating food.

Lost Lake is one of the more scenic campgrounds in the eastern districts of the Chequamegon-Nicolet, next to Franklin Lake and Luna-White Deer. The non-motorized lake’s clear waters and undeveloped shoreline combine for enjoyable canoeing, kayaking and paddleboarding.

This remote and peaceful recreation area is on the south shore of Morgan Lake (44 acres). The lake is electric motor only and surrounded by a scenic pine, birch, and hardwood forest. A shoreline trail runs the length of the campground, extending up the east shore to a spot with huge boulders, tall red pines, and scenic views.
The campground is spread out in a beautiful conifer and hardwood forest on the northwest shore of Spectacle Lake (166 acres). The lake has crystal clear waters and sandy shallows fronting the entire camping area, perfect for wading and swimming. The day-use area features a large fishing pier with several benches to relax and enjoy the views.
A maturing maple forest shade this small, remote recreation area on the west shore of Stevens Lake (290 acres). The campground makes an excellent basecamp for anglers and fall hunters. The lake’s shallow waters hold Northern Pike, Panfish, and Largemouth Bass. Fall colors are often incredibly scenic.
