The campground is in an idyllic northwoods setting between two scenic lakes, Luna Lake and White Deer Lake. Both non-motorized lakes are surrounded by undeveloped shorelines covered in tall pines, hemlocks, and hardwoods creating a peaceful and scenic experience for camping, hiking, and paddling. Loons nest in both lakes during the summer months and campers will often hear their beautiful serenades during evening and morning hours. The Luna-White Deer Trail is a popular 4-mile, double-loop trail that circles both lakes. Fantastic open views are on the north and east shorelines of White Deer Lake.

There are 37, non-electric campsites. All offer plenty of shade and many have views of the either Luna Lake or White Deer Lake. 33 sites are available for tent and RV/trailer camping (length varies, see list below). Four sites are tent only. All sites have a fire ring, picnic table, tent area, and a parking spur. Campground amenities include drinking water (electric well & hand pump), vault toilets and accessible vault toilets. White Deer Lake has a small picnic area and a swimming beach which also serves as a canoe launch. Luna Lake offers a boat landing (non-motorized craft only). 20 sites are reservable and 17 are available on a first-come, first-served basis.

Most campsites are spaced well-apart from each other offering pleasant levels of seclusion. Many waterfront sites are set back from the lakeshore, with views of the water through tree trunks and light foliage. One of the best sites in the campground is the walk-in tent site #7, which offers a wide, level area for larger tents, is shaded by tall red pines, and is only a few steps from White Deer Lake.
