This is a popular, RV/trailer friendly campground that is also excellent for tent camping. The campsites are spread out in a hardwood and pine forest and every site is partial to fully shaded. Most sites are surrounded by dense stands of balsam fir to provide pleasant levels of seclusion.

Interfalls Lake and the Park’s main day use area, including the swimming beach, picnic grounds, childrens playground, CCC Shelter Building, hiking trails, and the accessible paved trail to Big Manitou Falls, are all within walking distance of the campground. A pet picnic area and a pair of horshesoe pits are located across from site #1.

There are 59 campsites available for tent and RV/trailer camping. 54 sites are pull-through and 5 are back-in. 19 pull-through sites offer electric hook-up and all other sites are non-electric. Sites #26 and #27 (back-in, non-electric) may be combined as a double site to accomodate up to 16 people. Sites #36E and #15 are ADA accessible and site #35 is the campground host. Every campsite is reservable (excluding the host site).

Drinking water fountains with spigots for filling containers are located throughout the campground. Other amenities include a shower building (running water, accessible heated showers, accessible flush toilets), and acessible vault toilets. Firewood is available ($ fee) from the park office. A dump station is located at the north end of the main day use area parking lot and is free for registered campers ($ fee for non-registered campers).

Backpack Camping

Three backpack campsites are next to the Black River, about a 1.6-mile hike from the main day use area parking lot. The sites are named ‘White Birch’, ‘White Pine’, and ‘Balsam’. Each has a level tent area, fire ring, picnic table, and a bench. A pair of vault toilets are at the junction of the campsite trails and a three-sided shelter is on the Oak Ridge Trail.

White Birch is set back from the river on a shady rise among birch and hardwoods. White Pine is in an idyllic setting next to the river at the base of three huge white pines. This spacious campsite is spread out on a level bank, eight feet above the river. Balsam is also in an idyllic, shady, riverside setting surrounded by balsam firs and conifers on a level bank several feet above the river. All three sites are out of sight from each other.

Trails & Places
Season

The State Park and campground are open year-round. Most water facilities are shut down for the cold-weather season:

  • Bathhouse will be turned off September 1st.
  • Shelter building and Shower building will be turned off the second week of October (usually).
  • All water fountains and the dump station will be turned off at night when temperatures approach freezing, but turned back on during the day if temperatures are warm enough.
  • The water is turned off to protect water lines from freezing. However, the pit toilets located in the campground are open year round. Also, after the water has been turned off to the campground, visitors can get water from the park office when it is open.
Registration

A staffed office is at the Park entrance. You may register and pay for a site at the office, or reserve online, or by phone (1.888.947.2757).
