Clear Lake Campground

Clear Lake Campground is located four miles southeast of Woodruff, just off Highway 47. The campground sits in a mixed hardwood and pine forest next to beautiful, Clear Lake (873 acres). The lake is surrounded by forest and most of the shoreline is undeveloped. The lake’s sprawling character with its numerous islands and bays along with its depth – max is 95 feet - make it popular and fun to explore by boat, jet-ski, canoe or kayak. The campground has several sandy beaches including one for swimming and a second used by campers to park their watercraft during their stay.

The campground has 100 non-electric campsites. One site is ADA accessible (#800) and one site is the campground host (# 750, May through October). All sites offer plenty of shade and 22 have partial to full lake views. 89 sites are available for tent and RV/trailer camping (back-in only, max length varies) including four pairs of (reservable) double sites. 10 sites are walk-in tent only, of these six are lakeside (all the lakeside tent-only sites are reservable). All sites have a picnic table, a fire ring and an area for at least one tent. A total of 86 sites are reservable and 13 are available on a first-come, first-served basis.

Campground amenities include a staffed HQ building, multiple sandy beaches, a paved boat landing, vault toilets, drinking water, a heated shower building with accessible flush toilets and a firewood stall ($). An RV dump station (free for registered campers) and trash/recycling area are near the campground exit. There are boat trailer parking areas throughout the campground. All campground roads are paved.

Indian Mounds, NH-AL State Forest

As its name implies, Indian Mounds Campground is located near the site of four burial mounds left from the Woodland People who inhabited this area long ago. The campground sits in a pine and hardwood forest on the shore of scenic, Lake Tomahawk, part of the Minocqua Chain of Lakes. The lake chain is a magnet for summer vacationers who come in droves to relax and enjoy the beautiful waters. Boating, pontoon boating and jet skiing are immensely popular. This is the only campground on the lake chain, and many campers bring their watercraft when they stay here. Minocqua is about 7.5 miles away on the water and 6.5 miles away by vehicle.

The campground has 39 non-electric campsites. All sites have plenty of shade. 32 sites are available for tent and RV/trailer camping (back-in only, max length varies). Seven sites are walk-in tent only. Each site has a picnic table and fire ring. Campsite #6 is the campground host. Ten sites offer at least partial lake views. Campground amenities include an improved sandy swimming beach, shady picnic area, boat ramp, drinking water and accessible vault toilets. All campground roads are paved.
