Backpack Camping

Chippewa Moraine features three ‘outpost campsites’ for backpack camping on the Ice Age Trail. Two are hike-in sites within a half-mile walking-distance of the Interpretive Center, a third is a canoe-in only, lakeside campsite on Town Line Lake. All three sites have a fire ring, tent area and shade, and all are on the shoreline of a scenic lake. The outpost campsites are available on a first-come, first-served basis. Campers must pay and register at the Interpretive Center before occupying a site.

Brunet Island State Park

Brunet Island State Park lies at the confluence of the Chippewa and Fisher Rivers. Numerous lagoons and narrow channels provide plenty of opportunities for canoeing and kayaking exploration along with excellent fishing. The park also features several miles of hiking trails through dense forest and open fields including a two mile segment of the Ice Age Trail. For Bicyclists, a trail spur links with the Old Abe State Trail.

There are two family campgrounds at Brunet Island, the North Campground and the South Campground. The South Campground is has 24 electric sites. A shower building with running water and flush toilets is available for all campers in the park. The North Campground offers 45 non-electric campsites, many are waterfront.
