The campground is on a narrow isthmus between a pair of small lakes collectively named Twin Lakes; East Twin (22 acres) and West Twin (16 acres). Wetlands and scenic birch forest surround both clear water lakes, and each lake has a boat landing. Bird life is abundant, especially songbirds throughout the summer.
Horseshoe Lake Campground is nestled in the hilly, sandy, pine barrens of Bayfield County in northern Wisconsin. The recreation area is primarily used as an equestrian campground and trailhead for a 12-mile, multi-loop horse trail, but is also available for regular camping. The campground lies about 200 yards west of its namesake, Horseshoe Lake, which can be accessed via the horse trail or by vehicle on FR 427. The tiny lake sits in a sandy bowl surrounded by birch and pines, and provides a fun atmosphere for swimming, tubing and paddleboarding.
The scenic campground is split into two separate areas on the west and north shore of Perch Lake (69 acres). The lake is surrounded by a beautiful wilderness shoreline of pines, hemlocks, and hardwoods with a small, wooded island near the south shore. Perch Lake is deep for its size, with a maximum depth of 77 feet. The lake is excellent for paddling and anglers will find Musky, Largemouth Bass, Trout, and Panfish.
Two Lakes Campground is between a pair of scenic, clear-water lakes, Lake Owen (1250 acres) and Bass Lake (63 acres). Most of the campsites overlook one of the lakes and are shaded by tall pines and hardwoods. This is a popular campground for families, couples, and small groups that exudes a fun, vacation experience.
This popular family campground offers a fun camping experience in a scenic pine forest next to tiny Wanoka Lake (15 acres). The lake is in a shallow basin surrounded by brush, hardwoods, and pines. A small sandy beach and swimming area with a fishing pier provide a relaxing atmosphere for parents and kids to swim or go for a leisure float in a tube or kayak.
