The campground is on a narrow isthmus between a pair of small lakes collectively named Twin Lakes; East Twin (22 acres) and West Twin (16 acres). Wetlands and scenic birch forest surround both clear water lakes, and each lake has a boat landing. Bird life is abundant, especially songbirds throughout the summer.

The campground experiences medium-to-heavy usage due to its proximity to the popular tourism areas of Washburn, Bayfield, and the Apostle Islands National Lake Shore.

There are 16 non-electric campsites available for tent and RV/trailer camping (back-in only, see list below). Each site has a parking spur, tent area, picnic table and fire ring. Campground amenities include drinking water (hand pump), accessible vault toilets, and garbage & recycling. All 16 sites are first-come, first-served.

Lakeside Campsites with Lake Access
Campsites 1 through 8 have the best views of one or both lakes, and the least amount of shade. Of these, sites 1, 2, 4, 6, and 8 are on a slight rise and each has excellent views of West Twin Lake. Sites 12 through 16 offer the most shade but have limited views of either lake at best. The shorelines fronting the campground on both lakes are marshy so none of the waterfront sites have lake access, even though the water is steps away from several of the sites.

The two boat landings have a gravel ramp and turnaround and are mainly used by those staying in the campground.
