This popular group campground is in a gorgeous lakeside setting on the shore of Big Muskellunge Lake. Fire rings and picnic tables are scattered throughout the large shady, camping area which is fronted by a long sandy beach. The beach is perfect for wading, swimming, and launching canoes, kayaks, and SUP’s. Campers will often park their motorized watercraft along the south end of the beach.
Sprawling, Big Muskellunge Lake (897 acres) features bays and wooded islands surrounded by a mostly undeveloped shoreline covered in maturing forest. The lake provides fun and scenic opportunities for boating and fishing. Anglers will find Panfish, Largemouth Bass, Smallmouth Bass, Musky, Northern Pike, and Walleye. The bay in front of the group camp is excellent for canoeing, kayaking, and paddleboarding on calmer days.
A rustic boat landing is 0.2 miles west from the group campground entrance on Big Muskellunge Lake Road. The landing has a ramp and room for trailer turnaround. An area for roadside parking is next to the landing. A developed public boat landing with a paved ramp, boat pier, trailer turnaround and trailer parking is at the south end of the lake on County Highway N, 5.3 miles from the group campground entrance.
