This quiet, peaceful campground sprawls over rolling hills in a hardwood and pine forest next to a beautiful northwoods lake. Cunard Lake (44 acres) is surrounded by an undeveloped shoreline covered in pines and birch and is restricted to electric motors only. Explore the lake with a canoe or kayak and look (and listen) for the loons, especially during the morning and evening hours.

Most of the campsites at Cunard Lake Campground are are spaced well-apart from each other for very good levels of seclusion. Generators are not allowed.

There are 33 shaded, non-electric campsites. 27 sites are available for tent and RV/trailer camping (back-in only, max lengths vary) and 7 are walk-in tent only. One pair of sites may be combined for a small group of up to 12 people. Site #1102 is the Campground Manager. Amenities include drinking water (hand pump) and vault toilets. All 33 sites are reservable.

The campground features some of the best walk-in tent campsites in the NH-AL State Forest. Site #1123 is in a beautiful setting overlooking the lake from a small shady plateau in a stand of red pines. About 100 yards away, #1121 also overlooks the lake from another small, shady plateau among birch, pines, and balsam fir. It is about a 2-minute walk from the parking area to #1121, and this site offers the most privacy in the campground. Another scenic walk-in site is #1101, located in an intimate setting among red pines and balsam firs and only steps away from the lakeshore.

None of the campsites are directly waterfront. However, Sites #1127 and #1128 offer partial views of the lake and shoreline access. Sites #1130 and #1132 are set further back with limited views of the water, but both have footpaths down to the lakeshore. Site #1126 also has lakeshore access via a footpath.

A small swimming area features a scenic, sandy beach backed by a small picnic area. The boat landing is at the south end of the campground and offers a paved ramp, launch pier, turnaround, and parking area with 4 trailer stalls.

Cunard Lake is a Loon nesting site.
