TRAIL NOTES

Nine Mile Forest is one of the top nordic skiing areas in Wisconsin with a strong emphasis towards skate skiing. Visitors will find a multiple-loop trail system where the trails are well-maintained with regular grooming. Every trail has a skating lane that is 8-feet wide on average, and all trails have groomed tracks for classic (when conditions allow). 6.3 km of trails are lit every night until 9pm during the winter ski season.

Nine Mile is a great place to learn to ski with highly-qualified ski instructors on-site. The excellent grooming, wide skating lanes, and varied terrain make this one of the better places in Wisconsin to train for The Birkie or your favorite loppet. Several nordic events are held here each winter.

LAND OWNERSHIP

The entire trail system lies within the Nine Mile County Forest Recreation Area just west of Wausau.
