TRAIL NOTES
This is a Wisconsin Trail Guide favorite for groomed, 'backcountry' skiing. The Underdown Recreation Area features more than 33 kilometers of trails through a wonderful variety of scenery and terrain. The trails tend to be winding and undulating over numerous small hills in an area populated with dozens of kettle lakes. Spruce and mixed pine often surround the trails along with aspen and mixed hardwoods.
Most of the hills are small with short, quick descents that are suitable for most intermediates. Most of the more challenging hills offer an easy bypass route.
Be sure to pick up a paper trail map from the mailbox located about 50 yards down the trail from the trailhead at the east end of the main (Maple) parking lot. The paper maps show the most recent trail routes.
